Aangilam Vaangilam Movie Review

It is been a long time we have seen a film that brought smile on our faces. The heart-wrencing dialogues and situational humour laced with emotional elements in English Vinglish(Aangilam Vaangilam) makes it an interesting watch. Veteran actress Sridevi steps in to play the lead role. A heroine-centric movie to make her comeback. All credits to director Gauri Shinde for she has managed to weave a story that sustains al suspense, drama elements besides conveying a strong message.

A tale around a middle-class woman who lacks English language, the movie talks the light route. The need to respect them and give love and care for wife is stressed well. Not knowing a language is no handicap. One needs to convey his-her emotions and tats enough. That forms the crux of the movie. English Vinglish is happy and entertaining. The movie has Mehdi Nebbou, Priya Anand besides a splendid guest perfromance by Ajith.

Amit Trivedi has come up with some songs that adds momentum to the story. Sashi (Sridevi), a housewife doesn't know English. Her husband (Adil Hussain) and her daughter take a jibe at her for not knowing English. She goes into shell untill she ventures out to New York al alone to help sister ion her daughter's wedding. There she decides to learn the language. She joins a English speaking course. Did she teach everyone that understanding and speaking a foriegn language is no easy task is what the climax is.

Sridevi serves the purpose well. She brings out what Gauri Shinde wants exactly on screen. Sridevi does a splendid job. She brings out right emotions and her performance is riveting. She gets under the skin of the character to give her best oozing with energy and enthusiasm. Ajith's cameois amazing and he has a punch dialogue too. Priya Anand plays a breezy role. With no cliched sequences of melo-dramatic events, English Vinglish makes up an interesting watch.

There are moments specially in the Elglish class and the episode in school where Sridevi accompanies her daughter are amazing. The film has moments that would keep you entertaining.
