Ennamo Nadakkuthu Movie Review
CAST: Vijay Vasanth, Mahima, Prabhu, Saranya, Thambi Ramaiya
Director: P. Rajapandi
Music: Premgi Amaren
Producer: V.Vinoth Kumar
Debutant Rajapandi’s Ennamo Nadakkuthu is a racy edge of the seat thriller with lots of twists and turns, till the very end. The milieu and its characters look realistic, and the film is smartly packaged like a masala entertainer and it delivers the goods. The film works due to its speed, earthy dialogues, performances from its actors and a cracker of a climax.
The cool surprise twist in the end and the running time of the film (2 hours 8 minutes), makes it adrenaline pumping. The story set in North Madras revolves around a guy coming from the lower strata of society who falls in love with a nurse. Vijay (Vijay Vasanth) is a contractor for sticking film posters in North Madras area.
He is a rough, uncouth guy who at times in a drunken mood beats up his mother (Saranya Ponvannan), but makes up with her at the end of the day by buying her favourite Biriyani! He falls in love with the educated Madhu (Mahima) a nurse in a hospital. However he gets caught in a cat and mouse game being played by a ruthless corrupt politician Burma (Rahman) and a cunning businessman Parthipan (Prabhu) who has a score to settle.
One of them holds his girl to ransom, as the other has stolen the money entrusted to him! Vijay Vasanth brings a primal mixture of affection and crudeness to his character and makes a sensational comeback as an actor. He is deftly aided by Radhakrishnan’s North Madras dialogues and Rajapandi’s clever use of his looks and body language.
Every character in the film has a well etched role. Mahima looks cute and plays a pivotal role while Saranya Ponvannan for a change has given new dimension to her regular mother role and she is a treat to watch. Aswin has hero’s friend is a delight and Thambi Ramaiah in a serious role with a comic touch rocks. Rahman and Prabhu fit the bill.
The music of Premgi Amaran is in sync with the film. The folksy Meesa Kokkuthaan and the high energy Money Money... song choreographed and picturised on Raju Sundaram, being the pick of the lot.
Praveen-Srikanth’s fast paced editing gives the film the extra edge. But at the same time the film could have done away with one of the dream songs. On the whole, Yennamo Nadakuthu has proven to be a convincing outing and this movie is fast paced entertainer Movie.
