IPS officer Sanjeev Kumar dies of cancer
CHENNAI: Additional director-general of police Sanjeev Kumar died at a city hospital on Sunday. The 55-year-old was suffering from cancer and died without responding to treatment.
A native of Ranchi in Jharkhand, Sanjeev Kumar, an IPS officer belonging to the 1986 batch, came to Tamil Nadu as assistant superintendent of police in the Dindigul rural division. He served in the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) from 1991 to 1999. Since 2009, he had been deputed at the police headquarters in the city for administration related work.
Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, in a letter, expressed his condolences to the family. Kumar is survived by his wife and children.
