Mammootty patiently stood with Fireman team: Mammootty
Director Deepu Karunakaran is all praise for the megastar Mammootty, has again proved his dedication when he recently worked continuously for a month for the upcoming action thriller Fireman. "We had to wrap up the schedule within the time frame of one month and 80 per cent of the shoot of Fireman was held at night.
The shoot would start at 6 in the evening and sometimes would go even up to 5 am. But Mammootty patiently stood with us," says Deepu. He also adds that Mammootty had to put up with smoke and heat for certain scenes, for which he was equally co-operative. "Fireman has not been made in a usual film making pattern. We shot the entire movie like news footage - with no drama.
When I conveyed the idea to Mammootty, he wholeheartedly supported it." The director has a word of praise for Unni Mukundan as well, who also acts as a fireman. "I haven't seen any actor who is as committed as him in the current generation."
Deepu, however, doesn't want to tag the movie under any genre. "A thriller doesn't mean stunts. Anything which can generate interest in the audience can be termed as a thriller and I guess Fireman is one. I am not trying to test the IQ levels of the audience with twists and turns.
Also, the film doesn't have the so-called stunts as the plot revolves around a rescue operation and the risks taken by a firefighter to complete the mission." Nyla Usha and Siddique play other key roles in the movie, which is set to release on January 9.
