Skyscraper - Movie Review
Skycraper starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Neve Campbell, Ng Chin Han is a thriller movie written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber. The movie looks straight out of a 90s action thriller that could fit in any of our action heroes from the early 90s but Dwayne Johnson is one hero in the current standards who can pull of any action movie regardless of the script and come out on top of it. He has the charisma, machoness, skills to make even a mediocre movie look better and attract audiences.
In simple terms, an ex-FBI agent (who has lost a leg in a rescue mission) must save his wife and two kids from a burning skyscraper, The Pearl, the world's tallest building which is being taken over by an European terrorist in order to attain some vital information from the the multi-millionaire Ng Chin Han who owns The Pearl. The movie sets into action mode within 20 minutes after a small premise setting of the entire plot.
The action blocks, vis-a-vis Dwayne Johnson's unbelievable jumps and crawls on the outside of the skyscraper, attempting to rescue his family is a near unbelievable stuff but it is this man who makes it believable. The screenplay was expected to be more tight-roped but falls a little short of expectation and falls in the average category.
Dwayne Johnson is the one man army in this film who compels us to watch the movie just for his heroics and charisma. A decent watch on the whole.
