The successful combo of 2014 blockbuster film "Velaiyilla Pattathari" actor Dhanush and director Velraj teamed up once again for Thanga Magan which hit the silver screens yesterday. Whether the combo repeat the same magic again...

First half of Thanga Magan is breezy, romantic, humorous and youthful, while Second half complete family drama and a little action block which was totally unnecessary.

Sathish is a scream in the first half. Amy Jackson impresses big time in this film throughout. Samantha looks a perfect home maker but needs to improve on her diction is she's gonna continue dubbing on her own. The actor as Dhanush's cousin does a neat job as well, wonderful supporting cast from KS Ravikumar and Radhika.

The movie though starts well and moves at a good pace, starts slowing down around post interval and feels a little dragged even though running time is only 121 minutes. Best part is the simple ending to the movie. Dhanush-Amy Jackson scenes were pretty good and enjoyable portions in the movie.

Dhanush was as usual standout with his performance as a lower middle class boy-family man. Movie could have been better in the second half.

Definitely not as entertaining as VIP and nowhere close to it.

On the whole, A simple film with all elements of a commercial entertainer... One time watch with family.
