After Trisha slams ‘crude words’ in cryptic post, Parthiban says sorry for remark

Trisha Krishnan broke her silence on Sunday regarding comments made by actor-director R Parthiban at a recent award ceremony in Chenna

Without taking any names, the actor expressed that a microphone doesn’t make a comment intelligent, it just makes stupidity louder.

She also said crude words without knowledge say more about the speaker than the person they’re aimed at.

The incident unfolded after Parthiban made digs at Trisha’s recent public appearance with actor-politician Vijay at a wedding reception in Chennai.

Parthiban apologised soon after Trisha’s response, acknowledging regret over his words.

Trisha responded on her X account without naming Parthiban directly but addressed the comments made at the event. She wrote, “I was informed by the organisers of a recent event that my name and picture were included at the last minute at the request of an individual conveyed through his assistant (sic).”

In her statement, Trisha added, “A microphone doesn’t make a comment intelligent or humorous. It just makes stupidity louder. Crude words without knowledge say more about the speaker than the person they’re aimed at (sic).”

Shortly after Trisha’s post, Parthiban issued an apology on X. His post read, “What happened. Has gone all wrong in this. There’s no way but to regret! (sic).” The apology followed mounting criticism and calls for accountability over his statements at the event.

The controversy began when Parthiban, asked to comment on actors he had previously worked with, saw a photo of Trisha displayed on stage. Using wordplay referring to her character Kundavai, Parthiban reportedly said, “Indha Kundavaiye konjaneram kunthavaikkirathu nallath (It is better to ask this Kundavai to sit at home for a while).”

He added, “It is better if she doesn’t step out because it is creating a lot of issues.”

Trisha and actor-politician Thalapathy Vijay recently attended a wedding reception in Chennai. The two arrived together, posed for photographs, and left the venue together. The timing of their appearance also attracted attention, as Vijay’s wife Sangeeta Sornalingam had recently filed for divorce.
