DISNEY INDIA ROPES IN AWARD WINNING WRITER MADHAN KARKY TO PEN DIALOGUES AND LYRICS FOR DISNEY’S LIVE-ACTION MAGNUM OPUS – THE LION KING IN TAMIL 

After having conquered hearts with ‘The Jungle Book’ in 2016, Disney is all set to present its legendary franchise and crown jewel - ‘The Lion King’ – with ground-breaking technology that re-imagines the greatest story ever told.

Etched forever in pop culture, the animated version was known for its strong and emotional storytelling and memorable characters that won hearts of fans everywhere. Audiences have been eagerly waiting to watch the live-action on the big screen.

To make it a scintillating experience for Tamil audience, Disney India has roped in the genius lyricist and writer Madhan Karky to pen the Tamil dialogues and lyrics for The Lion King in the dubbed version! 

In his first decade as a lyricist and dialogue writer, Karky has been part of some of the biggest blockbusters in modern Indian cinema such as Endhiran, Ko, Thuppakki, Kaththi, Bajirao Mastani, the Baahubali series, Nadigaiyar Thilagam, Padmaavat and 2.0.

“I have always loved watching Disney Classics, their storytelling legacy is unparalleled and The Lion King is a tale for all generations. It was a great experience to localise the story and I have persevered to retain the original thought and flavour and added some fun local innuendos so fans can enjoy watching it in their preferred language!” says Madhan.

Directed by ‘Iron Man’ and ‘The Jungle Book’ fame director, Jon Favreau, Disney’s The Lion King is one of the most-anticipated films of recent times. The heroic coming-of-age journey will make it to the large canvas with a pioneering and game changing photo-real animation technology, using cutting-edge tools to make the musical drama come alive on the big screen. 

Disney’s The Lion King releases on 19th July 2019 in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and English.
