Rupee recovers 5 paise vs dollar in early trade
The rupee recovered by 5 paise to 63.25 against the US dollar in early trade on Monday on fresh selling of the American currency by banks and exporters. Besides, dollar’s weakness against other currencies overseas amid higher opening in the domestic equity market also supported the rupee, dealers said.
The domestic currency had lost 19 paise to end at 63.30 against the dollar on Friday due to strong demand for the US currency from oil firms. Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex gained 87.28 points, or 0.32 per cent, to trade at 27,459.12 in early trade.
