Mayor Duraisamy inspects Amma Market in RK Nagar
Chennai: Chennai is all set to open it's first All Manufacture Material Available Avenue (Ammaa) weekly markets in chief minister's RK Nagar constituency.
Chennai Mayor Saidai Duraisamy yesterday inspected the proposed site on B canal Road in Sunnambu Kalvai near Korukkupet. This Amma market will have parking lot for about 100 metres with a dedicated play area for children and 45 display counters for traders to sell consumer products.
An ambulance and fire services will also be stationed. The work will begin in a week or two, said a corporation official. This market will be open to public from 6 am to 9 pm. This will procure wholesale materials from manufacturers and sell the items at 30 to 40 per cent cheaper rates. More than 40 government departments goods will be available in this market.
